The rules in brief are:

  1. Maximum loan amount is 50% of the net assets owned by the SSAS
  2. Interest must be charged of at least 1% over Bank of England base rate
  3. The Loan must be documented properly with an approved loan agreement
  4. The Maximum term of the Loan is 5 years
  5. Loans over 12 months require regular repayments of both capital and interest
  6. Loans MUST be secured using a FIRST CHARGE Unencumbered security, such as Commercial Property, A Fixed Charge on commercial assets, A Bond and Floating Charge, and a charge over the shares of the borrowing company           (a charge over Company shares is not available on Scottish registered Companies)
